Rheban

A short drive south of the Tasmanian east coast town of Orford is Rheban Beach and further south again is what is known as Sandy Point Lagoon (or Sandspit Lagoon). The car park at Rheban Beach is located at the northern end of the beach right next to an interesting rocky point. The beach extends for about 3 kms south from the carpark and ends at the lagoon. To get to the other side of the lagoon you can either swim across or drive down to Earlham Estate (easier option).

While Rheban Beach is great for a walk (and shell collecting) there is not a lot photographically until you get to the lagoon. Sandspit Lagoon has so many wonderful dead trees it is, quite literally, a photographer’s paradise.
