If flowers are my favourite still life subjects, then shells come a close second. We have our shack at Orford which is home to so many beautiful beaches and, consequently, washed up shells and driftwood (and other random stuff).
Most of these photos have been taken in my woodworking workshop; it is large enough to fit lights and cameras with the added benefit of having everything I need to create the ‘sets’. It can be really challenging photographing shells; glues and Blu Tack just don’t stick so I usually resort to careful balancing and, sometimes, quite elaborate supporting structures.
