All the photographs in this series were taken using a Hasselblad 500C/M (120 roll film) with the amazing Carl Zeiss 135mm f5.6 S-Planar lens and bellows. This lens is a little unusual in that it can’t be used straight on the camera, it must be mounted on the bellows. Small price to pay when used, as intended, for this close-up work; super sharp and heavily corrected (not that it matters much for this type of photography). Use of the bellows makes it difficult to use a traditional viewfinder as some of it gets ‘blacked out’; to get around this I use an old focusing screen much like the ground glass in a large format camera (attached to the film plane).
